June 28th, 2013:

   My top five for the day:


1. Aaron Hernandez Case: Personally, I find it very disappointing for him to be in this situation. I pray to God that he's innocent, because it would infuriate me on the inside if he guilty. Throwing your career away over anger? Over little bullcrap? That sounds awful to me. He is obviously good, judging by the five-year, $50 million contract extension he received last August. That was the highest contract signed by a tight end in NFL history ever, until his teammate, the always exuberant Rob Gronkowski, agreed to a six year, $53 million contract. And if he goes to jail, his career will fly out the window, onto the highway, ran over by a semi-truck, and then eventually tattered to pieces.
   His predicament reminds me of when I hear a big-name retired athlete state the he is "broke", or file for bankruptcy. With the millions of dollars that they have, you would think these athletes could retain a least a livable amount of money, right? Apparently not. At least hire a financial adviser, or have a trustworthy person that you know help you with your money. I know they're constantly being hounded for some money,("Remember that time when I gave you a dollar?".) but be smart. If they are wise, their lives are already set. That's all I'm sayin'.


2. Nerlens Noel Not Selected Number One, or Two, or Three, or Four, or Five. What?: The headline is kinda self-explanatory. I mean, really? Cody Zeller over Nerlens Noel? No one in their right mind would think that that's a good idea except, well, the Bobcats, but look where they're at right now: one winning season in their career as a franchise. But what surprised me the most was that Anthony Bennett went first. And last night Bill Simmons pointed out a great piece of analysis: Why draft Bennett when you're already committed to Tristan Thompson at power forward? Bennett isn't a natural fit for small forward, and he's definitely not ready to be a center. WHY, CAVS, WHY?!?! If you are drafting Bennett for small forward reasons, why not Otto Porter Jr.? His partnership with Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters would make for an a.) young 1-2-3 combination, and b.) his defense is good, if not great. I'm still confused.


3. Dwight Howard Might Not Return To The Lakers: Guess who doesn't care? Me. The Howard saga irritates me to the fullest extent possible. Sure he's the greatest center in the league, but the guy needs to make a decision on where to go and stick with it. You can't keep changing your mind when something doesn't suit you. Hey, I'm Dwight Howard and I don't like D'Antoni's system here in L.A., so I'm leaving. Sure there's beautiful weather and ladies, celebrities attending my every game, and $100+ million calling my name, but you know what? I want to go to either Dallas, Atlanta, or Houston. Great cities, don't you think? You know what Dwight? You irritate me . Just stop. What do you want from Dallas? A superstar role from a deteriorating team? Have fun winning a championship there! (Shout-out to Mark Cuban.) Houston? They seem to be the greatest of those three options, to me at least. But have fun seeing the NASA Houston Center and...................and, well, that's it. Atlanta? It's your hometown, I understand that, but no. Josh Smith is an unrestricted free agent, who happens to be the best player on that team. I wouldn't be surprised if Atlanta let him go, especially with his $13.2 million salary. So with Smith gone, who do you have? Al Horford? That sounds like a winning combination to me(in the most sarcastic tone ever)! That's all I have to say.
